High School Acts of Service
Opportunities to serve are always available at the high school level. Service hours are earned by students through their Bible classes. Students serve in church nurseries, teach in Sunday schools, minister at Church Under the Bridge, volunteer at Elf Louise, and serve teachers after school.
Mission trips are a regular part of the service opportunities at SACS. Students, teachers, and parents make trips to Mexico to build houses and to minister at orphanages. Each summer another group heads off to the Ukraine where SACS students minister to orphans and other groups in that country.
A great example of ministry is when the SACS football team, cheerleaders, and the Pep band had the opportunity to serve the Giddings State School football team. Giddings is a state school for male students who have gotten into trouble with the law. They have none of the things usually associated with all the hype around football. Our football team and cheerleaders provided each player with a goodie bag, which included a Bible. At the start of the game, the cheerleaders set up a “breakthrough” for their team, and each one received a photograph of himself, running onto the field. Our band went to their side of the field and played for their fans while our cheerleaders cheered for their team.
These are examples of special opportunities for SACS high school students to serve others as Christ commanded. For further examples of ministry, click on "Missions".
