Intimacy with God and application to their daily lives is emphasized. Weekly Bible memorization is included along with monthly character traits.
MATH (A Beka) – This is a traditional approach to mathematics that lays the foundation for understanding math, increases the child’s capacity to understand concepts, and helps the child develop those concepts. This program expects students to learn and remember necessary facts. Concepts include addition and subtraction; four to five place numbers with borrowing and carrying; multiplication and division tables to five; problem solving, logical thinking, money, Roman numerals, graphs, calendar, time, measurements, fractions, and geometry.
READING (Bob Jones) – Reading for Christian Schools emphasizes comprehension and develops phonics systematically. A variety of selections – family stories, adventure stories, Christian realism, historical fiction, Biblical accounts retold, biographies, information articles, folktales, poems, and plays – not only teach reading well but also encourage growth in Christian character. Novels with Christian themes are also read.
PHONICS (A Beka) – This program provides fast, accurate, oral practice of phonics skills. Using charts, it focuses on the sounds needed most for beginning readers.

Poetry, letter writing, stories of different venues, and a term paper are part of the creative writing that is taught. Sentence structures, punctuation, capitalization, nouns, verbs, and adjectives are part of the grammar component of this curriculum. Journal writing is emphasized each day, as well as varied writing activities that coincide with social studies and holidays throughout the year. Daily Oral Language by Evan-Moore is used to enhance grammar skills.
SCIENCE (Bob Jones & Delta Science Modules) – Science is taught through the hands-on program of Delta Science Modules. The many science experiments lead the children through the scientific method. Using the modules, second graders study magnets, force and motion, and weather. SOCIAL STUDIES – (A Beka) – Second graders step back into history and learn what life would have been like in our country’s early days.
