All students wear school uniforms. There are several important reasons for this policy, including the need to place proper emphasis upon the character traits of modesty, personal neatness, and cleanliness. Uniforms dispense with competition, emphasizing instead the development of the inner person and recognition based on character qualities rather than mere outward show.
Uniforms also serve as an economic measure for parents while still giving students a distinctive appearance. In addition to helping students develop and reflect a worthy self-image, uniforms also enhance school spirit and encourage good behavior. Uniforms are symbolic of a student’s acceptance of parental and divine authority.
The SACS dress code requires that the school uniform be treated and worn with respect. Jewelry, ornamentation, and make-up are to be minimal. Skirt length for girls should be knee-length. Boys’ hair is to be off the ears; the face is to be clean-shaven. Tattoos, tongue, nose, facial piercings, excessive ear piercing, and the like, are not acceptable at SACS. A list of uniform requirements is given at the time of acceptance.
