About SACS Preschool

Meeting the developmental needs of children who will be four years of age by September 1st is the objective of our pre-kindergarten program. We offer both half-day and full-day sessions. Maximum class size is 15. Each student is evaluated prior to entrance in order to determine individual readiness. . It is our desire that each child be properly placed to ensure that the first years at SACS are not only a delightful learning experience addressing the social, academic, and spiritual growth, but also a smooth transition from home or other schools.

We are dedicated to teaching a developmentally appropriate curriculum from a biblical perspective emphasizing that all truth is God's truth. Our students enjoy developmentally appropriate skills with social interaction, creative play, motor skills, daily Bible time, art, Spanish, cooking, story time, and music .Learning is facilitated through games, stories, dramatic play, and hands-on activities.

A chosen theme is central to all the activities during the day. For example, a theme related song or action rhyme is used to introduce concepts included in a circle time discussion. Theme teaching equips children with concepts, generalizations, and techniques that are applied to other learning experiences. Bible, Language, Math, History, Science, and Motor Skills are integrated around the following curriculum themes:

  • All About Me: Our Names, Our Bodies/Health, my Five Senses, Feelings
  • Getting Along With Others: We Share/Manners, We're Kind, Friendship, Our Families, We're All Different
  • Everyone Has Needs: Nutrition, Safety/Community Helpers, Transportation
  • Animals, Animals, Animals: Animals at Home, Farm Animals, Zoo Animals, Insects/Bugs
  • Nature All Around Us: Seeds & Plants, Weather, Water/Fish/Ocean, Sun/Moon/Stars/Planets
  • Seasonal Units: Thanksgiving, Christmas, Easter, Patriotism:Freedom/God/Nation/State

Readiness skills such as listening, visual discrimination, letter/sounds, numbers and printing are introduced and practiced in a stimulating learning environment. It is our goal that each child should experience joy in learning.

Bible study is an important part of the learning activities of each day. During Bible time, the children share verses, songs, and prayers. They are taught to love God, Jesus, and God's Holy Word. There is a distinct emphasis on character development as the principles of God's Word are applied to the child's daily living experiences.
